SURFRIDER FOUNDATION
The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches, for all people through a powerful activist network. They fight for plastic reduction, beach access for all, and clean water. Whether they are cleaning beaches, hosting fundraising events, or talking with politicians on Capitol Hill, Surfrider volunteers will be working every day to protect, defend, and steward our coasts.
These projects align beautifully with our B Corp values to be a force for good. Together, with the Maine Chapter of Surfrider, our team has created custom graphics for the Beach Guardian and Skip the Stuff programs, event graphics for social, custom landing pages, and merchandise that resonates with everyone from business owners and community volunteers to beach lovers and those with deep compassion for environment.

For Managing Partner Paula Slayton, adventures are almost always associated with water—more specifically the ocean. From paddle boarding to body surfing, beach walks to shell seeking, she draws inspiration and peace from time spent by the sea.
Skip The Stuff
During the pandemic, the restaurant industry was forced to adapt its business models overnight, relying mostly on take-out orders as their source of income. Take-out sales dramatically increased to keep customers safe and keep local restaurants afloat.
With the increase in take-out came a dramatic increase in the number of disposable accessories being handed out, including plastic food containers, to-go bags, cups, straws, stirrers, condiment cups, and napkins.
The Skip the Stuff Campaign asks that take-out orders only include these disposable items if and when the customer requests them, "skipping the stuff" if not requested. This is a win-win, decreasing the cost of purchasing those items for the restaurant and decreasing the amount of waste that ends up in the ocean.
“Standing up for what you believe in takes guts and persistence. This is just a small piece of what Surfrider Foundation does and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
— Paula Slayton, Vice Chair of Executive Committee and Beach Guardian with Surfrider Foundation, Maine
